ABOUT OUR CLUB

Thank you for your interest in TEAM AZ sports programs. TEAM AZ
sports programs are competitive programs that give the youth in the
South Phoenix community as well as outside communities the
chance to compete at the highest level, have a chance to obtain
University and College scholarships, teach discipline through sports
as well as life skills to help our youth become productive citizens.

Our success comes through Excellent Volunteer Coaches who all
have the same vision as well as understanding of the game. Hard
work, love, understanding and discipline have been our success not
only on the court but off the court.

The Teenage Preventive Pregnancy Volleyball program was started
in 1992 to not only give our girls a chance to play and develop their
skills but also to keep them busy due to the high teenage pregnancy
in our community. We have had over 1,000 participants in the
program since 1992 and have had only 4 pregnancies. We believe
this success is due to the love and guidance they receive from
Coaches, Mentors and Directors as well as parent involvement. We
also have succeeded on the court with 5 Starlings National
Championships and 3 runner-ups. This past 2009 season we took 8
teams to the Starlings Nationals and 7 teams came home with
medals.

The Basketball program has been in existence since 1968 but was
upgraded to Club Competitive Educational Leadership program in
1998. Many of our teams have had great success competing around
the country such as Atlanta, Washington D.C., Houston, Los Angeles
and Las Vegas. We have been invited to take tours to different
Universities from around the country and give our players an
opportunity to experience success. Currently we have 5 National
Championships.

The Boxing program was started in 1968 and has great success.
1989 the program was used as a Gang Prevention program to keep
our youth busy and off the streets. We boast of 23 National
Champions, 2 International Champions and 1 World Champion. This
comes from teaching our youth discipline as well as giving them the
love and guidance they need to succeed in life.
